Anyone know a sure fire way to check and see if you have a battery or convertor failure. I have a Magnatek series 900, model 950 convertor. My batteries will not stay charged when plugged into shore power. With all hooked up to shore power I show the batteries at 12.7 volts. There is no change with or without shore power on the input voltage. When the batteries are disconnected and I check the convertor power output I only have 8.7 volts. I am not sure what I need to buy, convertor or batteries. Any help.

The 12.7 is a good reading from your batteries.
The converter should be putting out approx 13.5-14 volts.
If it was a fuse or breaker tripped ,it wouldn't put out anything.
Replace or repair the converter.

In eleven years of RV'ing, I have had to replace converters three times. They can go out....
