We are planning an excursion up to the Superstition Mountains area next week and we need insider sugguestions on places to visit (there and along the way). We are in Tucson and we will either take the western route up through Oricle or take the old dirt road along the San Pedro River on the the east side. Which ever way the start out we may take the other way back. We are not panning to taking the rv and we may just take the tent.

We know that some of the WKers here have canvased this area extensively so we want to pick your brains.

Thanks
Happy Trails

There is lots to do. Two articles I wrote for RoadTripAmerica.com have day trips heading that way from Tucson or out from Phoenix. For camping, Lost Dutchmen State Park in Apache Junction is very nice.

Thanks Jainnie for your solo reply.

As always, we drove down to the AAA office and they gave us many possibilities. We always worry that there other places off the beatin path that only a few are willing to go and that we would enjoy so much more if we just knew about them.

We also recieve many ideas from our friends on other forums that we belong to.

A great sightseeing trip is to take SR 88 to Tortilla Flats and take the whole route. Lots of beautiful scenery but road is bumpy and slow driving in lots of areas but worth the trip. Google Tortilla Flats for more info.

Rolling Thunder, are you Workamping in Tucson? Will you be coming back here after your trip to the Superstition Mountains?

We are also in Tucson while Jim is recovering from his by pass and doing cardio rehab. Anyone else around please email us if you'd like to meet up. We are pretty much going stir crazy! And now it looks like we'll be here through the Winter.

We plan to move out of the tiny but friendly mid town park we are in as soon as the weather breaks and return to boon docking a bit West of town. There is plenty of room out there, friendly people, no noise, huge skies and a great place for over nighting as well as wintering.

Hope we'll get to see some of you when you hit AZ!

Marcie and Jim

Thanks for the info folks.

Hi Taletellers! Sorry, we missed you. We just left for South Texas. Our Superstition
Mountain trip didn't happen be cause we had to head for Texas earlier than expected. I hated missing the mountain trip.

However, we may be back in the spring. Maybe we will see you then.

We hope Jim has a full recovery. Tell him to do what the doc says!

Happy Trails

Jim is doing wonderfully. His doctors and his rehab people are very pleased with his progress. In fact, they have told him he can do stuff I get upset by. (It's the hovering gene). :o

Hopefully we'll be doing some Storytelling in October at a pumpkin patch/corn maze. Man I hope so, we are bored to death!!!!

He just said today that maybe we can head to Quartzite for a week + in January! Of course as Jaimie says that's set in Jello. In fact, around here the Jello isn't even set!

We are still here, just not working right now, but looking ahead to next summer.

Marcie
