adding pictures..

I'm still fairly new here..could someone please tell me how to post a picture?

Go to User Control Panel at the top of the window, then go into Profile, and finally go into Edit avatar and download a picture from your computer or other location.

I tried to post a picture but I think the size of the pic is too big? I have no idea how to "shrink" my pic so it will fit
