Hey guys I have noticed the past few weeks that the number of members is going backwards?

This is posted on the Board Index when I open up the Web site.

What gives with that?

At one time you should have gone over 9,000, but now it is in the 8700's

Just wondering?

Hi buffaloman,

We've just been doing some cleaning as a side-project. The Forums site is getting to be about 10 years old now and there's a lot of folks who haven't logged in to it in years. The majority of the users register and never post. So if a user hasn't posted anything ever nor have they logged in in the last 3 years we've been removing them.

There's also multiple "spam" users who successfully got through the registration process and when found they would be deleted as well.

So the number of members will continue to go down as the cleaning continues. This may open up some usernames that new folks joining the site would want to use.

Over the years I have always noticed the number of members goes up and down somewhat, actually if every member posted once a day it would be almost impossible to keep up with unless we lived on the internet and stayed with it 24/7. It still is one of the best forums I have ever had the pleasure of participating in, and I have to give kudos to all the WK staff for keeping it that way.
I don't look for jobs anymore, probably never will again unless something falls in our lap as we traverse the roadways that we just particularly want to do, but I do check it every day at least once, and appreciate how nice it has been kept over the years.
When this particular forum was opened up and the old one was shut down, I was not the happiest camper in the country as I was thinking it probably was the end of something nice and something that I liked, but it quickly proved to me it was an improved version for the most part. There were and are things I miss from the old one, but I enjoy this one and read almost all the posts placed here even if I don't post on all of them.
Great job WK staff, keep it up please.
Happy RVing to all, wherever you are.
8-)

Thank you, gentlemen. :) It's because of folks like you that have made it great! It's definitely gotten quieter here over the years with the uptick of social media sites like Facebook. But we have no intention of eliminating this Forums site.
