I saw a Class A in Birmingham at a Cracker Barrel that had a hydraulic operated lift, a large version of wheelchair lift, on the back of his rig, he would disconnect his toad, lower the lift, drive MC off. Toad had an extended tow hookup and the MC lift was above that when he was moving. very neat setup and I am sure custom made. Also some of the pro fisherman have a neat rig to carry boat and toad in one unit. Boat was on lift similar to car hauler and toad was under that.

They work. I have two friends in my cycle club that use them and I have towed the rig once to place a friends bike in storage while they travel to the west cost with just their car as a toad. They take a little getting use to because of the solid axel but seem to work out once you get past that. I was almost going to by one but settled on a good deal on an enclosed trailer. With the tow dolly you can unload at your camp site or any other place that's good for you. I miss not being able to do that unless I have a long site. Check out this site for a tow dolly, http://www.racecityrvproducts.com and here for the lift http://www.overbiltlifts.com. Happy trails and ride safe.

We have seen 4 of these over the last year or so, in RV Parks. Since we are also thinking about purchasing one we stopped by to talk to the owners. Three of them were fatory built types and one was a homebuilt with a stationary axle. The copy was 12 years old so it predated the factory patented units sold by Rac City RV Products.

Each owner told us that theirs worked great. The patented unti sold by Race City RV come in several different configurations. I am sure you found this out. The longest one had two motorcycles a storage box and a Ford Focus in tow. Another one that was almost as long had a golf cart four wheeler and a car.

Depending on the loading the axle on the Race City Unit slides back and forth to reduce hitch loading. I believe this movable axle is the patented part of the design since the old homebuilt unit would have negated a patent on just a tandem concept as prior art.

I have been worried about wallowing but so far no owner has confessed to having it. I guess as long as the hitch weight is set correctly wallow would not be a problem.

Happy Trails,
RT
