For the third winter in a row we'll be east of Quartzsite in Brenda, AZ, at Black Rock RV Village. It's only about 15 minute drive via I-10 into Quartzsite. Love going into the Q, lots of fun things around if you're willing to find them.

Just learned yesterday that we will be in Q for Jan and Feb. Had planned on a couple weeks but a Job offer for me presented itself .... Yeah
Now, one for Jack too would be nice

It looks like we will see lots of familiar faces from Amazon last year and friends from other gigs too. :D
Really hope to find folks who are doing some pickin' and grinnin' to sit around a campfire with too. We'll probably be in BLM long term south of town but not definate there yet.
Marcie have you learned to play that dulcimer yet? I have been way too busy to start but still hopeful.

We visited Q last spring. Since we got there in late Feb, so we were too later to experience the hustle and bustle. We plan on getting there earlier this year. I hope to grab a short term gig while there. I am not interested in CG hosting there, but I haven't noticed any other Qz ads in WKN soliciting help during the shows. How do most folks get work while they are there?

If you have a partner and don't mind working away from one another, keep your eyes open for help wanted signs on vendors tents. As far as working for the "Big Tent" owner, I posted a negative about that some time ago.
A couple of the cafe's have just started looking for help as well.

bethb4, many of the RV parks have jam sessions, so there's always an abundance of "pickin' and grinnin'" around here. Here at Desert Sunset RVP, we have a jam session twice a week - on Wednesday and Thursday, starting this coming Wednesday. Come on by, and be sure to let me know who you are!

WE will be in Q this year. Last 5 yrs in a row. We Boondock out on the BLM. If your set up right its just like being plugged into a park. But you dont have to be stuck in a RV park with neighbors on each side 10 ft away. RV's are built to get out and away from the crowds. Personally an RV park is like living in a neighborhood. I much rather breathe the fresh air. And for things to do here. Plenty of things! Look around, Explore! Lots of Fun Lovin people here at the Q !! COME ONE, COME ALL
See ya :D

I am in Q already. I had a "Connection" (One of my seasonals from the park I managed this summer) and am snug in a spot on a large private property with full hook ups. Plenty of privacy and its great for my dogs. I got to make them a yard!

I supposedly have a gig prepping motorhomes for the January show, but have to wait for the boss man to arrive on the 3rd to confirm.

Went out to the BLM today just to look around.. pretty empty so far. Saw lots of nice spots I would have been happy in.

The wind is horrible today and is supposed to be for the next few days. Drive safe if you are headed this way this week!

You're right about the wind, Gina. I was sitting here in the office a while ago, and a gust of about 50 MPH came through. I looked out, and our motorhome was absolutely rocking side to side!

I'm going to be out of the office Thursday and Friday, but I'll be back Saturday and Sunday, for sure, and in and out next week. If you're in the area, stop by Desert Sunset and introduce yourself. I'd love to meet you! If you like music, we have jam sessions at our clubhouse on Wednesday at 6:30 PM and Thursday at 1:00 PM.

It was very pleasant to meet Beverly the other day! She is bright and personable and great to chat with.

It did not take long to find work. I am working for an RV dealer here doing housekeeping of the offices etc and doing the interiors of RVs for display. Every woman's dream.. I decorate :P

Surprisingly, in 2 weeks, I have seen the population at the LTVAs almost double, and the vendors are moving in in droves.

I am afraid to go out. Every time I do, I spend 50 bucks at a "new" place :D

Well, thanks, Gina! I definitely enjoyed our visit, too. Hopefully, we'll see each other again and get to meet many more fellow workampers while we're here.

You're right about the population around here doubling in the past couple of weeks. The main difference I noticed immediately was at the dollar store. When we first came here, I dropped by to get some cleaning supplies for the park, and I walked right up to the checkout counter. Now, I have to wait in line for about 30 minutes!

I have to say that Quartzsite is definitely the oddest place we have EVER been since we started full-timing! The jury's still out on whether that's a bad thing or a good thing! ;)

Hey folks, DW and I will be spending our first season in Q. Will be there next month helping/working with "Grandma" Jeannie at [removed]. The coffee pot will be on, and we have tables to gather around and visit. Please drop by and introduce yourself. We are excited to be at Q and looking forward to meeting all you fellow workampers.

How about setting a time to meet? I'm checking with Tworootless about the name of the "best" restaurant we tried to go to last year. (It was closed.) Any suggestions from those of you here?

Monday the 25th would be a good day for us, but we are flexible. We may take interested people out to our claim that afternoon. Then we could meet for dinner somewhere. Or, if Monday is not a good night - for restaurants or your schedules, we could pick another time. Bev? Gina? anyone else?

Actually, the name of the restaurant is Mountain Quail on Moon Mountain Street! :) Jim laughs at me because I keep trying to call it Quail Mountain, so we've just started calling it the "Dirty Bird". Another place that we really like is the Grubstake on 95 North. One problem is that they are both ALWAYS swamped, and they do NOT take reservations. Actually, I don't know of any place in Quartzsite that DOES do reservations, and we will have a terrible time getting in anywhere without them. I guess, however, that we can always stand in line and wait (typical Quartzsite in January).

Actually, Monday night (the 25th) is not the best for us because we have a bus trip to Casino Arizona in Scottsdale planned for that day. If any of you would like to go with us, it's free, and we get $10 in slot comp play and a $5 meal coupon. Call me at the office phone of (928) 927-6443 by Thursday, 1/21/10, if you want to go.

If we could get together on Tuesday night, if y'all want to do so, we could have a potluck dinner or a finger-food potluck at our (Desert Sunset's) clubhouse (entrance on Washington Street). Whatever you want to do is fine with us. If we do get together on Monday, we'll be back in Q by 5 PM, so we can do that if it's after 6 PM.

What think you all?
